About CostToMoveGuide

Four calculators built around one annoyance: two movers can quote the same job a thousand dollars apart, with no easy way to check either number first.

CostToMoveGuide started as a way to answer one question before the phone calls begin: roughly what should this move cost? The local calculator prices by home size and crew hours, the long-distance one by shipment weight and mileage, the truck rental tool by day and distance, and the packing calculator by room count.

Every one of those runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded, logged, or handed to a third party, since there is no server-side step that needs it.

Jessica Martinez writes most of the guides and cost breakdowns on the site; her background, along with how figures here get sourced and corrected, is on the authors page and the editorial standards page. Nothing published carries a byline it did not earn.

Every calculator result is a starting figure, not a quote. Movers price around access, season, and the fourth-floor walkup nobody mentioned until moving day, so treat the number here as a baseline for comparing the written estimates that actually matter.
